What is impossible?
This piece explores how the human mind lies at the center of every sophisticated technology, innovation, and system we rely on today.
It is the thing you cannot think of as possible.
Whatever you cannot imagine will never show up in your vision. And what never shows up in your vision will never become real through physics and material science. The limit was never the material. The limit is the mind.
So why do humans refuse to solve so many problems?
Ten years ago, if you told someone you would build a machine that answers questions and gets work done at the speed of electrons, they would have called you mad. Today we call it AI, and people use it before breakfast.
The Israelites crossed the Red Sea when it parted before them. Today we cross seas by flying over them. For years, serious scientists argued that flight was impossible. Then Orville and Wilbur Wright settled the argument.
When Isaiah wrote about people flying like clouds, I don't read that as only a picture of heaven. I read it as a man who saw the future. He was looking at what we live in today, and what is still coming.
Here is what I believe. Everything that can be made will be made by humans. No one is going to descend from the sky to build it for us. Give humans enough incentive, and they will chase the same answer for a thousand years until they find it.
That is why I want a lot of money. Not to sit on it. To use it as incentive. To inspire and fund people to go after the things we call impossible today.
The impossible is only a problem nobody has believed in enough, or been paid enough, to solve.
